Hurricane Florence was a monstrous storm that hit North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Bermuda, Cape Verde, West Africa, Atlantic Canada, and Eastern United States. The storms lasted from August 31 to September 19, 2018.
t began as a tropical storm over the Cabo Verde Islands off the coast of Africa, and made landfall as a Category 1 storm in the on September 14 over Wrightsville Beach, North Caroline. The highest the wind speed got up to was 140 mph, or 220 km/h. Florence is the sixth-costliest Hurricane to date, with more than $38 billion in damage. The death toll was 36, with 26 in North Carolina, eight in South Carolina, and two in Virginia.
